Music School

We are most fortunate to have Christine Hartley as our principal strings teacher. Christine Hartley, born in South Africa to a non-musical family, began studying the piano at age six.  By the age of fifteen, she had performed several major concertos on a national radio station in South Africa. She continued her musical studies as a scholarship student at the Guildhall School of Music in London, England. Christine has performed piano concertos and chamber music in England, Hungary, Switzerland, Greece, Namibia and Poland, and was appointed professor of cello and piano at the Albert Conservatoire in France.  Christine is now recently retired from the Tampa Bay Symphony as principle cellist and concert pianist as well as teaching the string program at John Hopkins Middle School.  Christine teaches all of the string instruments as well as piano and continues to teach private students.
